The Under 15 boys went down to their second defeat of the season, losing 83 - 49 to Highfield School in the County League. With Aidan out injured and Jamie turning his ankle in the second minute, the remaining squad of 6 found it difficult initially to deal with an excellent point guard and some good 3 point shooting from the Highfield team. Once we switched to a zone defence we looked more solid and grew in confidence. Ben Hackwood was outstanding, scoring 33 points, with the rest of the boys showing a real fighting spirit in difficult circumstances. Our final quarter performance (we outscored Highfield 13 - 11) showed a focus and ability to learn, particularly from our less experienced players. With a fully fit squad we should have nothing to fear from any of our other opponents and hopefully we can still reach the semi finals. Injuries to Aidan, Jamie and Josh Smithers could affect our season but hopefully the Christmass break will allow them to fully recover and be fighting fit for the New Year.

The Under 13 girls continued their impressive start to the season, beating a strong Longdean team 45 - 18. After a tentative start, where our shooting was rushed and lacked control, we settled into our passing game and began to convert our lay ups and rebounded shots. When marking our opponent closely and not getting drawn to the ball, our defence was very effective. The year 7 girls who made their first appearance should also be pleased with their start to Beaumont basketball. We passed the ball well, and began to use the fast break consistently in thesecond half. Olivia top scored with 23 points whilst Holly scored 10 and Morgan 8. The rest of the team now need to work on their lay ups and outside shooting as we will have tougher games and will need everyone to score if we aim to win the County League this year. A really good start to the season, well done girls!

Great week for the Boys and Girls teams
Last week saw the Under 15 and 16 boys, and the Under 13 girls all win well in their National, County or District League matches.
On Monday the Under 15 boys beat Verulam in a below par performance 64 - 54 to secure second place in the District League (Jamie Moroney top scored with an impressive 44 points)
On Tuesday the Under 16 boys travelled to Westfield in the Nationals and were playing extremely well, leading 56 - 30 until an injury to Josh meant the game had to be cut short. Westfield were very sporting to concede the game and hopefully Josh will recover in time for next terms matches. Kieron top scored with 34 points, an impressive total in just over 25 minutes of basketball. The whole squad deserve credit for a very impressive team performance
The Under 13 girls travelled to Westfield and were a little nervous as this was their first ever County League match. They need not have worried as they played extremely well, scoring 48 unanswered points in a 52 - 3 victory. Olivia Almond top scored with 22, with Holly Brando Hollahan not far behind on 16. Morgan Jeggo, Adi Milton and Steph King performed extremely well in their first ever game and this result bodes well for the rest of the season. Well done to all three teams.
